MRC and the Phoenix centre offers the following training sessions:
- Cultural Awareness Training
- Incidental Counselling
- Working with Adults from a Refugee Background
- Working with Children from Refugee Backgrounds
- Working with Interpreters
- Working with Young People from a Migrant Background
Sessions are interactive, draw on participants’ experiences and combine formal presentations with large and small group discussions. Facilitators also use case scenarios, practice examples and audio visual materials.
The MRC has a diverse workforce and all of our facilitators are currently working with people from migrant and/or refugee backgrounds and/or with people with lived experience of torture and trauma. Our facilitators are counsellors, social workers, youth workers, health workers, bicultural workers and community development practitioners. They draw on current experiences and issues from their practice to make the training practical and relevant.
MRC and the Phoenix Centre also offer tailored training sessions for service providers, not for profit organisations, business, state and local government and schools.

Half day training sessions/workshops cost $100 (excluding GST) per person.
Full day training sessions/workshops cost $170 (excluding GST) per person.
SafeTALK training cost $75 (excluding GST) per person.
